These Outlook logs are stored on the local on the local disk of your computer. These log files have “.log” extension name. One of the important thing about the Outlook logging is that by default this feature is turned off. So now we will discuss about how to enable Outlook logging.

How To Enable Outlook Logging?

For troubleshooting any kind of issues on the outlook, you have to enable troubleshooting logging option in Microsoft Outlook. After enableing this option the log file will be generated with .log extension name in the temp folder inside localapp data. You can Open the log file on notepad. So let’s start the step by step process for enabling Outlook logging.

1. Enable Outlook Logging In MS Outlook 2010

  • Navigate to File > Options.
  • Click on Advance tab.
  • Check the Enable Troubleshooting Logging option under the Other section.
  • Click On and Restart the Microsoft Outlook.

2. Enable Outlook Logging In MS Outlook 2007

  • Navigate to Tools and click on Options.
  • Clich on Advance tab to open it.
  • After that click on the Advance option.
  • Now select the Enable Logging (troubleshooting) option.
  • At last click on Ok two times and Restart the MS Outlook.

All done, now it will start generating the log files on your computer and you can start troubleshooting issues on the MS Outlook. Please note this, do not keep this logging option enabled every time because this long file will consume a lot of space on your computer’s disk drive.

How to turn off Outlook logging?

The steps for turn off Outlook logging is almost same as enable Outlook Logging. Follow these steps below to turn off Outlook logging:

  • Navigate to File > Options.
  • Click on Advance tab.
  • Uncheck the Enable Troubleshooting Logging option under the Other section.
  • Click On and Restart the Microsoft Outlook.

Where Are Outlook Logs Stored?

You can find this log files on your computer’s local disk drive. You will have to navigate to the following folders for accessing this Outlook logging files.

For POP/IMAP/SMTP:

C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Temp\Outlook Logging\

For Exchange ActiveSync protocol:

C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Temp\EASLogFiles\

These Outlook logging are also stored in one another folder named as “%temp%” which can be easily accessed from both the operating system windows or Mac.
